paperwhite 25

A hiatus of four days for Thanksgiving. An exhausting holiday. Meanwhile the paperwhite didnt take a vacation but burst forth in very pregnant buds.
Hope the house is soon filled with scent. The others (4 more in waiting) have to be moved out of the kitchen window as they are hitting the top of the opening. An abundance of paperwhites in the works.

Yet another paperwhite. Arches black paper, white sewing thread, and a lot of Elmer's glue.

Eh! Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. And sometimes it's just boring.

paperwhite 22

another collage... all the crap out of my purse and off my desk.
a double page of Arches black paper, Allegro coffee cup, coffee cup sleeves, Tootsie Roll wrapper, parking receipts from physical therapy, napkin from Starbucks, receipt from CVS and a bit or two of tissue paper.
Phew!

paperwhite 21

Is it there if you dont see it? As long as it's implied, I think the answer is yes.
My shoulder hurts like bloody hell.
Just because I look on the dark side, I looked up shoulder arthroplasty (replacement) rehab. Can you say "a year?" De-pressing.

paperwhite 20

Went to the SMFA Winter Sale. They sure arent shy about prices. Maybe they would sell more if they priced it a bit more modestly. Isnt it better to sell something than admire it on the gallery wall?
Didnt buy a thing, but a sheet of this lovely black paper (Arches?) and a white marker. I dont know what it is, a cross between chalk and a pencil... chawcil?

Another day, another paperwhite variation.
This one is kitchen string with a glue stick.
A drawing is what you make it.

paperwhite 18

Im going to have to buy some black paper. This is Sumi ink brushed on the page. It gives a lovely, velvety feel. Caran D'Ache watercolor crayons. A similar "feel" as the pencils. I think I much prefer, at least for now, color on black paper.

paperwhite 17

A bamboo pen and Sumi ink (and Im still super nervous about opening that huge bottle of ink), silver marker pen and a white ink pen.
Following this paperwhite along, day by day, is curiously interesting. On the other hand, it's making all the other possible candidates for a daily drawing almost irresistible.

paperwhite 16

Not quite a throw away, but I had an evening meeting, so didnt get to this until 9pm.
Brought Maria's English Almond/Chocolate Toffee to the meeting. Always a winner. More like the crack cocaine of the home made candy world. What could be wrong with 3 cups of sugar and 6 (yes! SIX) sticks of butter?

Ha! Found the pencil sharpener. In a place that it didnt belong, of course.
This is Sumi ink background and then Caran D'Ache Watercolor pencils. It must be the ink, but the pencils have a sort of pastel layering quality that I didnt expect. Certainly a different "feel" than the pencils on the watercolor paper.
And I love the look on the black background.
Food looks terrific on black plates. Peas are greener, meat is meatier.Im always on the look-out for a set of square, black, dinner plates. But they have to have well defined corners. So far, no luck.

White paper/ paperwhite: it was inevitable.
White tissue paper and rubber cement. Love rubber cement... the smell, peeling it off your skin...yum.

paperwhite 13

Im kind of lovin' that cheesey moving company packing paper.
This was supposed to be colored pencils. But I "cleaned" my desk and I cant find my pencil sharpener. Typical.
So this is a set of colored markers and a white pen.

This is the Wall Street Journal (Money & Investing) mounted on Gentle Giant Moving Company packing paper. Eclectic, to be sure. Maybe nothing else, not sure.

I bought those paper shredding scissors. Wish the blades were a little further apart.
Ive often looked at the stuff that I throw out when I empty the shredder and think of the possibilities.
I think there is more collage in my future.

paperwhite 10

Ten versions of the paperwhite... can I come up with about twenty more?
I'm on a mission today to find paper shredding scissors. I have a feeling that it may be intriguing.

paperwhite 9

A trip to Dick Blick... a new Japanese ink brush, a giant bottle of Sumi ink (if this ink spills, Im going to commit hara-kiri) and some interesting paper. All in all a good day, and on sale, too.

paperwhite 8

I filled my much beloved fountain pen with blue ink. This is the first time I was glad the ink I was using smudged all over.
Although Im a fan of all things having to do with art materials, I do so love this pen.

paperwhite 7

OK, this is so cool! I havent collaged anything since Color Class at Mass Art. I NEVER thought it would come in handy, but never say never. Thanks to Marcia Lloyd.
This is all from todays New York Times section on Home Design.
I had the urge to cut up my color-aid pages (and may yet do so) but this was cheaper and more interesting, in the end.

paperwhite 6

This is sort of "the thought" of a paperwhite.
Fewer and fewer (less and less?) people are visiting this site. Soon I'll be all alone.
Sigh.

Starting to throw out little roots.
This is pencil (8B), white china marker (a mistake) and then scraped off with a razor.

A bit of pointellism today. It's a long growing season. And it will be interesting to try to wary this paperwhite day by day.

Ah! the paperwhite. I think Im going to "do" this paperwhite (or maybe one or all of its 4 siblings, lurking on the kitchen window sill) until they bloom and die. I may bore myself to tears, and probably those four people a week who look at this blog, but I will learn a lot about paperwhites. We all will.

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. I missed yesterday... and it was All Saint's Day to boot.
